1982..a good year for music

Hey Sinners

Today in the Gumbo Shop we revisited 1982.  A big year in music.

With M-TV gaining popularity, I remember watching videos and this new form was fascinating (of course that was when M-TV actually played music videos).  I was in my first year of college and loving life. I saw one of my favorite bands from the front row that year- Crosby Stills and Nash.  Movies in ’82 were huge…

ET dominated the boxoffice, also Star Trek 2-The Wrath of Khan (KAHHHHNNN!!!!), Officer and a Gentleman, and one of my favorite movies – The Man From Snowy River.  1982 was also the year we lost John Belushi…what a waste…I feel he was just reaching a turning point in his career.

Songs played in today’s Gumbo Shop

Hurts So Good- John Mellencamp
I Ran – Flock of Seagulls
Down Under –  Men at Work
Dirty Laundry – Don Henley
Southern Cross – Crosby, Stills & Nash
Come On Eileen – Dexy’s Midnight Riders
Eminence Front – The Who
Man on the Corner – Genesis
Blister In The Sun – Violent Femmes
Jenny 8675309 – Tommy Tutone
Black Coffee In Bed – Squeeze

A very fun Gumbo Shop
Tomorrow – 1999 (whoo-hoo)
