Foster the People Embark on Another Sold Out Tour

(New York, NY) – After a whirlwind few months with the global release of Torches, Foster The People are shaking off the summer heat with the news of their platinum certified single “Pumped Up Kicks” and a debut album that’s climbing the charts with over 220,000 units sold to date. To support the success of Torches the band will tour this fall making stops at ACL and Popped! Festivals, in addition to, 25 sold out dates around the U.S.

In a recent issue, Spin wrote that Foster The People announced “themselves as major players with “Pumped Up Kicks.” This was confirmed last week when “Pumped Up Kicks” reached over 1 million tracks sold.  Thanks to 7 uninterrupted weeks at #1 on the Alternative radio charts; “Pumped Up Kicks” has also seen airplay gain on Pop, Hot AC and Triple A charts. The song was also nominated for two MTV VMAs for “Best Rock Video” and “Best New Artist.”

The Washington Post named the track their Summer Jam praising the song for its versatility: “It’s catchy but not shameless, smart but not ostentatiously so, and it’s colonized too many genres to count…and like any self-respecting Summer Jam, it has spawned a host of solid remixes and cover versions, which is a great way to measure its overall cultural absorption.”

And the cultural absorption has only just begun. With their second single “Helena Beat” already charting in the Top 20 at Alternative, Torches is still holding steady in the Top 15 on the Billboard Top Album charts! It also remains the #1 streamed album on Spotify and has had 8 consecutive weeks of rising album sales.

Foster The People will be performing all the songs from Torches this fall on their third sold out U.S. tour which starts inScottsdale on September 13th and ends on October 20th in Las Vegas. The tour will include two sold out nights at New York City’s Terminal 5, Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre, San Francisco’s Fillmore and Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club. The tour will also support the bands philanthropic efforts by bringing along The Do Good Bus on all 25 dates around the U.S. (see dates below.)
