30 Ways in 30 Days – FoodBank spotlight calendar

September is Hunger Action Month. You can help the Bay Area Food Bank in many ways:  donate non-perishable food items whenever the ZEW is on location; help raise awareness of the critical need;  support some of the other sponsors and fun events scheduled.

MOBILE, Ala. – Mayor Sam Jones has issued a proclamation stating that

September 2011 is Hunger Action Month for the city of Mobile. Bay
Area Food Bank is part of a national movement through Feeding America
to raise awareness and take action to help the 50 million Americans
who experience hunger.

Bay Area Food Bank is working to engage citizens to take action and
help spread the word about hunger along the Central Gulf Coast. Bay
Area Food Bank has put together a 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar to
provide individuals exciting ways to participate in our community
throughout September.

Bay Area Food Bank’s Hunger Action Month sponsors include 92 ZEW,
Buffalo Wild Wings, Camille’s Sidewalk Café, Fairhope Health Foods,
Fly Creek Café, Kula Yoga Community, Lunatix & Co., Mellow Mushroom,
O’Charley’s, Panera Bread, Reflections Hair Salon, The Sunflower Café,
Virginia’s Health Foods and Walmart.

To kick-off this year’s Hunger Action Month, the food bank will be
hosting a wine tasting event at TASTE on Airport Blvd. The event, A
Toast to End Hunger, will be Thursday, September 1 from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Tickets for A Toast to End Hunger are $30. For more information on the

Nationwide, 50 million Americans suffer from food insecurity. The
impact of hunger is felt by many more than the millions living with
food insecurity. Hunger impacts child development, health and
wellness, education, workforce development and our general welfare as
a nation. It is an issue right here in our community. Bay Area Food
Bank works to combat hunger and aid people who suffer from food
insecurity that live right here along the Central Gulf Coast of
Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Each day in September, participants
are given unique and creative ways they can advocate, donate or
volunteer. The 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar includes opportunities
from social media initiatives to events with local businesses and
restaurants, family activity suggestions and ways to volunteer and
support the work Bay Area Food Bank does every day.
