Robert Plant reveals “Rainbow” and new album details
Robert Plant has unveiled “Rainbow,” the first track to his forthcoming September 9 album lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar and the first music released with his band The Sensational Space Shifters. The new self-produced project, his first since 2010’s Band of Joy, arrives via Nonesuch/Warner Brothers on September 9.
Plant describes the new album as “really a celebratory record, powerful, gritty, African, Trance meets Zep…” Nine of the album’s 11 songs were written by Plant and the band.
The Sensational Space Shifters include Justin Adams on various percussion including bendir and djembe and also guitar; John Baggott on keyboards, loops, moog bass and piano; Juldeh Camara on ritti (a single stringed fiddle); Billy Fuller on bass, drum programming and omnichord; Dave Smith on drums and Liam “Skin” Tyson on banjo and guitar.

This morning (6/26) we got a sample of Adams’ new material and he’s given us something good. Coincidentally, the song is called “Give Me Something Good.” It is the first single from Ryan’s self-titled album, set for release Sept. 9. We’re not sure if the album includes Ryan’s recent cover of the Pointer Sisters’ “Neutron Dance” performed at a recent tech conference.
Adams plans to hit the road in the fall to support the new release.
