Showbiz411 reports that guests included Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Billy Joel and Robert DeNiro, as well as Melanie Griffith, Deborah Harry of Blondie, Liam Neeson, Barbara Walters, Edie Falco, Joely Richardson, Bill Pullman, and Alan Cumming.  Of course, Sting’s wife, Trudie Styler, was also on hand, as were his two oldest kids, Joe and Kate Sumner.

According to the website, at the end of Sunday night’s performance, Sting came out on stage to thank everyone associated with the show, and sang the title song, “The Last Ship,” with the cast.

While pointing out that the musical still has “nagging flaws,” theThe New York Times praised the show for having “a seductive score that ranks among the best composed by a rock or pop figure for Broadway,” adding, “Sting’s songs…never feel like pop tunes awkwardly shoehorned into a ready-made narrative.”
