This year radio station WZEW, 92.1 FM celebrated its 30th year serving the Mobile metro community with a series of concerts and free shows throughout the end of the year.
One of the big events ’92ZEW – Then and Now.’ A special night that explored the 30-year evolution in Mobile’s music and radio scene. The show featured the first ever reunion of one of Mobile’s biggest bands in the 80’s, Will & the Bushmen. Coincidentally, they formed the same year the ZEW debuted it’s new Triple A format (adult album alternative). One of the most popular bands of today, Willie Sugarcapps, also performed at the event. Willie Sugarcapps is a conglomeration of Gulf Coast allstars: Will Kimbrough, Grayson Capps, Corky Hughes, Anthony and Savannah Crawford of Sugarcane Jane. The band won the Americana Award this year for best album. Many congrats to WS.
The ZEW also had special presentations of ZEW Memories and highlights, including a video by Catt Sirten highlighting 30 years of Mobile’s 92ZEW.
Owned and operated by Mobilians, the station has been providing the most diverse musical rock n’ roll playlist that includes regional artists from Mobile and New Orleans, brand new music alongside some of the greats of the past, jazz and blues.
