Hot off the digital world, a new (old) Stones tune, Plundered my Soul from forthcoming  Exile on MainStreet ris-ris*  [display_podcast]

One of the Stones’ career defining albums, 1972’s Exile on Mainstreet, gets the ris-ris* .  When producers were digging in ye ol’ vaults, they found some special treats — ten fully mixed songs that never made it to the presses! Nearly forty years after recording, the public  gets to hear these possibly shiny gems, with different mixes of original songs ‘Soul Survivor’ and ‘Loving Cup’.  US Release Date: May 18, 2010

*Ris-Ris – that’s my new word for that magical process of remastering, reissuing and re-releasing an older genre defining album

Special guests include beloved Dr. John, Billy Preston, Nicky Hopkins.

And and and, a variety of formats, depending on your budget and taste … two CD formats:

  • the original 18 track release; a deluxe CD edition with the 10 special bonus tracks; and
  • a super deluxe package that includes vinyl, a 30-minute documentary DVD with footage from Cocksucker Blues, Ladies and Gentlemen…The Rolling Stones and a 50-page collector’s book with photos from the Exile era.

The 10 unreleased tracks were produced by Jimmy Miller, The Glimmer Twins and Don Was (Don Was, wasn’t he Walking the Dinosaur in Detroit in 72′?)

♪♫•*¨*•.¸BUT WAIT! There’s More! .•*¨*•♬♫♪

While we’re at it, how’s about some inside stories on the album? Interviews, memories, etc. Of course there’s a companion documentary in the works with vintage interviews (wow, how fun that will be to see young Mick saying ‘I’d rather be dead than still singing Satisfaction when I’m 40’).

Billy Mays must be turning in his grave to miss this infomercial opportunity!

More details to follow as they arrive. In the meantime, here’s the first tease, let us know what you think.
