Adele’s doctors order her off her voice to recover from a vocal hemorrhage, forcing another cancellation of her US tour, which was slated to launch this Friday in Jersey.
Rolling Stone reports Adele’s entire US tour cancelled (final date Oct. 21 in Grand Prairie, TX) due to doctor’s orders that an extensive rest period is necessary for full recuperation.
“Singing is literally my life. It’s my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job,” said Adele in a statement released by her record label, Columbia. “I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully or I risk damaging my voice forever.” The 23 year-old British singer explains that she is “devastated” by having to cancel these tour dates and apologizes, sincerely, to fans, knowing how inconvenient and disappointing it must be for them to have to change their plans. Furthermore, she says she’ll start vocal rehab as soon as she’s given clearance and “I will be back and I’m gonna smash the ball out of the park once I’m touring again.”
(Insert ‘isn’t it ironic’ here. One of the few independent record-breaking artists that’s actually selling records, can’t get rid of the vocal cord curse. /LAW)
