It’s a new year now, time to listen forward to a plethora of new music set to come our way soon. From Bonnie Raitt to the Shins to Galactic, there’s something for all types of music fans.
First, Bonnie Raitt‘s announcement from Rolling Stone Magazine:
In April, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bonnie Raitt will release Slipstream, her first album in seven years, with major tour dates to follow. The album will be put out by Raitt’s own new label, Redwing, and will feature covers of two songs by Bob Dylan, production on several songs from Joe Henry and a reggae cover of the late Gerry Rafferty’s hit “Right Down the Line.”

The very sweetly talented and diverse Ani DiFranco is releasing a new album January 23 that features the musical talents of Pete Seger, Ivan & Cyril Neville and more. Interestingly, the title track “What Side are You On”, which features folky legend Seger, sounds like it rose out of New Orleans with it’s foot stompin brassy beats & rhymes.
Speakin of NOLA music, the band that brings the rock and roll to the show, Galactic (who blew us all away at Bonnaroo and Hangout Festival many times), is almost ready for release, three days after their Soul Kitchen show, (Feb. 17 is the show, 20th is album release). Already got an earful of ‘Carnival Time’ and can definitely say, Mobile, there’s a new Mardi Gras song, that ain’t your grandaddy’s mardi gras song, to jam on and out!
And finally, just got word we’ll be receiving a brand new song, hot off the studio tracks from one of Zach Braff’s favorite bands, The Shins, this coming Monday (1/9). Keep your ears open, you might hear it that day.
Still working on the heavy metal and country portion of soon to be released
