NEW MUSIC UPDATE: MUMFORD EXPLAINS ‘DOOM FOLK’ 

Some thought ‘doom folk’ was a crafty new music genre created by Mumford & Sons to describe their sophomore album. Marcus Mumford elaborated recently during an interview with NME. “That was a joke to an American journalist who didn’t understand the concept of sarcasm.”   Oh those Brits and their sarcasm!

Hangout Fest artist Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘give it away, give it away, give it away now’. Hit up their website, RedHotChiliPeppers.com to download a five song EP recorded live during their 2011 European tour. Songs include  “Give It Away,” “If You Have To Ask,” “Dani California” and recent cuts “Look Around” and “Monarchy Of Roses.” See the Chili Peppers live at this year’s Hangout Music Festival.

MTV UNPLUGGED RETURNS

Florence + The Machine get the MTV Unplugged treatment with a full ‘unplugged’ album release next week. One song already turned up online features a guest appearance by Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) who joins Florence for a cover of “Jackson” made by famous by the Man in Black, Johnny Cash and the love of his life, his wife June Carter Cash.  The new cd is available next week and tracks include:
