92ZEW presents Road to Hangout Fest Free Concert Series
Every Saturday Night at the Hangout, with national recording artists. Brandon & Leah, Empty Pockets, Milow, & Rebecca Pidgeon added on to the previously announced list that includes Scars on 45, ALO, Black Box Revelation, Villains and 7Horse.
For a fun way to count down the days to Hangout Festival, 92ZEW put together a series of free shows from new artists on the rise that we think you’ll dig.
Added to the Arpil 21 lineup are California’s Brandon & Leah, who serve up slices of life with pineapples and hibiscus flowers. Chillin’ by the beachside campfire comes to mind when listening. Mind you, these are no strangers to the SoCal music industry, Brandon Jenner is son of Olympiad Bruce and Leah Felder’s dad played in the Eagles. And yes, surfing, singing, bonfires, that’s their bag. They recently signed with ATO Records.
Brandon & Leah join Chicago band Empty Pockets this Saturday night.  Empty Pockets deliver “handcrafted indie rock and roll music with genuine hooks, honest lyrics and carefully crafted songwriting.” The band, together since 2006, has already released one catchy album that caught the ears of Nickelodeon music supervisors. They liked it so much, they’ve used the entire album in different shows: ICarley, Zoey 101, Drake & Josh.  We’ve heard stories they sometimes will come out in 60’s dress playing Buddy Holly songs!  But that’s no wonder when their focus is “driving rockabilly grooves thick with rhythm and blues and thoughtful melodies and harmonies in classic pop song structures.”
Rebecca Pidgeon is now scheduled to play the free concert series May 5, Her name may sound familiar, especially if you watch a lot of movies. It’s that Rebecca Pidgeon. But don’t let the acting thing scare you. Music could definitely be Rebecca’s calling. From upbeat, textured songs with a little edge (a little more perturbed than say KT Tunstall), to the simple girl with a guitar, but not the surfer girl kind of sound. Her voice is a little more intense,
Joining Rebecca is someone you may not have heard, yet. But, you should be aware of Belgian artist Milow, He’s had several European number one hits, platinum records, Â played several prestigious festivals and the real deal… over 50 Million views of his new video. Â (yep, the world is indeed changing. there was a time when we based our play decisions on how many records sold, listener reaction and other stations playing it).
“an old-school soul with a new-fashioned sensibility, a troubadour fascinated by technology,”
America’s official introduction to Milow comes in July with the release of his EP “born in the Eighties.” Our train is a little early to the station, but you better get on board before he explodes to arena act. He already counts Jack Johnson, Brett Dennen and even Kanye West as fans.
