Norah Jones’ new album Little Broken Hearts (Blue Note/EMI) has debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, also landing at #1 on the Top Internet Albums and Current Rock Albums charts. Little Broken Hearts—which has been receiving the best critical response of Jones’ storied career—sold 110,000 units across all formats in the U.S. in its debut week according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album also made Top 5 debuts in 14 countries around the world including Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, and the UK, as well as six #1 debuts in Austria, Belgium, France, Japan, Switzerland, and Taiwan.

 

An additional run of U.S. tour dates in October have also been announced, with on sale dates for tickets beginning this Friday, May 11. The 12-date run will launch from Minneapolis on October 7 and will cover the Midwest (including a stop in Chicago on October 9) and Texas with shows in Houston (October 20) and Dallas (October 22) before concluding with a concert at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre in New Orleans on October 23. Little Broken Hearts—which was produced and co-written by Danger Mouse—has been receiving unanimous praise from critics across the board. SPIN magazine called it “the second essential record of Norah Jones’ career,” while a cover story in MAGNET magazine declared that “she just might have made the album of the year.” Jones has been the subject of profiles in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Associated Press, and on NPR Morning Edition. She has also made a series of TV appearances including performances on CBS Late Show With David Letterman and ABC Good Morning America. Other release events have included everything from a secret taping for PBS Live from the Artists Den in Brooklyn (for a concert special to air later this year) to a listening event hosted by Bowers & Wilkins that interpreted Little Broken Hearts through an experimental puppet performance by the ClockWorks Puppet Theater.

 

Blue Note has also marked the release of Jones’ new album by reissuing her entire catalog (Come Away With Me, Feels Like Home, Not Too Late, The Fall, and Little Broken Hearts) in an array of higher fidelity editions. All five of her albums have been Mastered for iTunes specifically with the iTunes and iOS platform in mind, ensuring increased audio fidelity. Blue Note and EMI will mark their new relationship with the high-definition digital specialist HDTracks by issuing all five titles in multiple digital formats that deliver CD quality resolution or better. Audiophile specialist Analogue Productions will release all five titles in limited edition 200 gram vinyl and SACD editions and will bundle the entire catalog plus a bonus album of rare and unreleased covers in LP and SACD box sets.
