Sir Paul to get French Medal this weekend

The French will recognize Paul McCartney with a Legion of Honour medal this weekend. France’s President, Francois Hollande, will present Paul with the medal, which is the highest public distinction that a member of the public can get. According to Reuters, previous recipients include Clint Eastwood and Liza Minnelli.

For 30 days (Sept. 3rd to Oct. 2nd), a new song from a featured female artist will be offered for free download for twenty-four hours on www.halftheskymovement.org. At the conclusion, a four-hour PBS documentary will air (Oct. 1 & 2) that goes around the world to tell courageous stories of oppressed women in places like Africa, southeast Asia, and India.
