The Estuarium at Dauphin Island Sea Lab is hosting a special event this weekend, “Seafood, Science and Celebrity: Made in Alabama Event,” featuring Food Network Star Martie Duncan and American Idol Winner Taylor Hicks.

The ‘Martie Party’ rolls in from the Food Network and brings some of her chef friends to cook up Alabama seafood in unique dishes paired with craft beers from the Back Forty Beer Company of Gadsden, AL.  Another friend of Martie’s, American Idol winner Taylor Hicks is also lending a voice for the celebration by providing some of the evening’s live music. The science portion brings in innovative Auburn scientist Dr. William C. Walton to showcase his experimental oyster farm in Grand Bay that harvests top-quality consistently sized, gourmet oysters.

Organizers were able to make it a bit easier for those wanting to attend from lower Baldwin County by getting the Mobile Bay Ferry to run a special cruise to Fort Morgan at 10pm.

There is a limited number of tickets, only 250, being sold at $100 each for this very special affair that celebrates the year of Alabama food. Tickets are on sale now:  Online at Frontgate Tickets, on location at ACP Real Estate and Bay Bank (addresses below).  You can also call 251.861.TRIP or email southmobiletourism.
