92ZEW learned (via email) that Mobile City Council is expected to pass an ordinance tomorrow banning flower growth in residential frontyards.

The measure is three-fold:

  1. A sudden rise in more symptoms for allergy/asthma sufferers in the last two years has city leaders concerned for the health of its citizens, so by passing the ‘No Flower Bill’, they’ll eliminate some of the pollens that sometimes cause allergies to flare and get worse.
  2. Since flowers grow rampant around the city, more jobs will be created for folks who are able to cut fields of Mobile and keep flowers from growing.
  3. City homes would have a more consistent look throughout the city.
