flashlight

Something perfect for hurricane season.

Ann Makosinski, a 15-year old from British Columbia, invented a thermoelectric Hollow Flashlight that shines simply from the heat of your hand.
She determined the heat of a person’s palm generates about 57 milliwatts of electricity — far greater than the half-milliwatt needed to illuminate her flashlight’s LED.
The invention made her one of 15 finalists at the Google Science Fair, which means she’ll get to travel to Google’s Mountain View, Calif. headquarters for the finals of the competition. She could ultimately win a grand prize of $50,000 and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
More reason to keep hitting those books!
