Steven Van Zandt teams with Grammy Foundation to teach kids history and influence of  rock n roll in today’s music.

E Street Band’s Steven Van Zandt is a huge supporter of music in schools and music education. Putting his guitars where his mouth is, Van Zandt announced this week that his Rock & Roll Forever Foundation paired up with the GRAMMY Museum to launch Rock & Roll: An American Story or RRAAS, a music education curriculum that lets middle and high schoolers learn about the societal influence of rock music.  The class will cover blues, country, R&B, gospel and today’s rock.  Van Zandt told Rolling Stone he hopes kids get a better understanding of the music they’re listening to and where it came from.  RRAAS will launch in the fall and within three years, organizers hope it’ll be in most major cities.  New York University is already holding a training program for teachers.
