Considered a “songwriter’s songwriter,” Prine is considered one of the most influential and unmistakable songwriting voices in modern music. He was was recently honored at the Library of Congress by U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser.
Prine’s most recent release was “In Person & On Stage,” a live album featuring a duet with Emmylou Harris.
Since the release of the Amos Lee’s debut album in 2005, the Philadelphia-born and -based former schoolteacher has a celebrated songwriter. After being named one of Rolling Stone’s “Top 10 Artists to Watch,” Lee went on to tour with giants Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard, Paul Simon, Elvis Costello and now Prine.
In 2011, Lee released his fourth album on Blue Note Records, “Mission Bell,” which was produced by Joey Burns of the band Calexico. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It includes duets with Lucinda Williams, Pieta Brown and Willie Nelson. The song “Windows are Rolled Down” became a top 10 hit on USA TODAY’s adult-alternative chart and the album debuted in the No. 1 spot on the Digital Albums chart and No. 2 on the Internet chart after it topped the Amazon Top-Selling Albums and iTunes charts the previous week
