Possible Scam Soliciting Money by Phone for Domestic Violence Shelters

A note from The Lighthouse of Baldwin County asks residents to use caution when donating.

A group called  ‘Alabama Children and Family Services’, who claim to be working on behalf of The Lighthouse, have been soliciting donations via phone and mail. Officials at the Lighthouse say they’ve never heard of the group, received a phone call or donations from the group. They are still unable to validate the legitimacy of the group.

The Lighthouse is very grateful for any support the community can give, but asks you to take caution and donate directly the group you want your money to help.
