Sentell hosts coastal meeting
The oil spilled from a BP well off the Louisiana coast has not reached Alabama’s beaches, but the Alabama Tourism Department wants tourism industry businesses to know how to file claims of lost income.
State tourism director Lee Sentell is hosting a town hall meeting at the Erie Meyer Civic Center in Gulf Shores with representatives of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, BP, the state health department, local government officials and others. The meeting Wednesday at 10 a.m. will include Michael Schulte, who is handling claims for BP. He invites businesses negatively affected to register by calling 1-800-440-0858. The meeting is one of several being organized at the direction of Gov. Bob Riley.
