92ZEW has been bringing free shows to Mobile for music fans to experience new artists on the rise, up close and on stage, at an affordable price, free. The tradition continued after the Senior Bowl at The Shed with Sons of Fathers from the rich music scene of Austin, TX.
The Americana/Texicana quartet, founded by Texas natives David Beck and Paul Cauthen, has been getting some pretty good press, especially for just releasing their debut last month. Comparisons to bands like Crosby, Stills and Nash, The Avett Brothers, and the Everlys are understated with their brotherly-like, cornsilk harmonies.
Everyone that made it to the show was quite thrilled with the band’s lengthy performance. Filled with whirling crevices and winding melodies, the positive energies swirled everywhere. Fans even danced to their original songs (no brickhouse necessary) and helped with some backing vocals. Everyone we spoke with (including Ricky Chancey, Keith Necaise and little Connor) were quite impressed by the band’s energy, enthusiasm and songcrafting skills. Their youngest, most adorable fan Conner was having a fabulous time (see his pic below).
The band consists of: David Beck (gtr, vocal) – Paul Cauthen (vocal/double bass) – Dan Cohen (gtr, mandolins) Regan Schmidt (guitar, lap steel) – Drees Stribling (drums)
