Florence and the Machine plan to take year-long hiatus

After releasing two critically acclaimed albums and touring non-stop for the last three years, Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine has decided she needs a break. In a recent interview with Style magazine, Welch spoke of her plan to take a year-long hiatus from music. The singer also discusses the vocal injury she sustained earlier this year while performing at a concert where she actually heard something “pop or snap” in her throat. Luckily there was no permanent damage. Although we can’t expect any new music from Florence Welch and the Machine for at least a year, she will be making an appearance on a new album from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, which will also feature performances by Rihanna and Ellie Goulding. That album is titled 18 Months and is due out in October.
