92ZEW’s Free Concert Series Kicks-Off 2015 with Bahamas and Field Report
For 30 years radio station 92ZEW (92.1 FM) has been exposing new artists to the Mobile metro by not only playing their songs on the radio, but also by bringing them into various venues for free shows.
The ZEW starts its 2015 free concert series Sunday, January 18 at the Soul Kitchen with Bahamas (Brushfire Records) and Field Report (Partisan Records).
Bahamas, is the stage name of Canadian Afie Jurvanen, who worked with Jack Johnson and was signed to Johnson’s record label, Brushfire (Universal) for his second and third albums. Both records received critic praise and Juno Award (Canada’s Grammy’s) nominations for Adult-Alternative Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. The most recent release, Bahamas is Alfie, topped the CBC’s list of 2014 best albums.
The Milwaukee based band Field Report is led by Chris Porterfield, who originally played with Justin Vernon (Bon Iver). Their debut garnered some major media attention with rave reviews from Rolling Stone, Time Magazine, Pitchfork and NPR. The Mayor of Milwaukee officially proclaimed Oct. 22, 2014 ‘Field Report Day’ to celebrate the release of their sophomore album, Marigolden.
The two national recording artists will be appearing for a 92ZEW free concert Sunday, January 18 at the Soul Kitchen. It will be an early show with doors opening at 6pm and music starting at 7. Under 18 will be admitted if they are with a parent or guardian.
