The famed heavy metal festival, which has been dormant for nearly eight years, is confirmed to take place at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, in 2027.

A post to the Ozzfest Instagram teases “more info on everything coming soon!”

Following Ozzy’s death in July 2025, his widow, Sharon Osbourne, started teasing the return of Ozzfest, which was last held in 2018. During a March episode of the Osbournes Podcast, Sharon said that she hoped for the festival to be held in Birmingham in 2027, followed by a return to the U.S.

Ozzy performed at Villa Park during 2025’s massive Back to the Beginning concert, which marked his final live performance before his death just over two weeks later.

The Irish outfit’s fifth studio effort is due out Oct. 16. It’s the follow-up to 2024’s Romance, which spawned the single “Starburster.”

“The album itself is a dopamine chamber,” says frontman Grian Chatten. “You step inside and we test these different mind- or mood-altering pieces of music on you.”

The record’s first single is called “Marianne” and is out now.

Fontaines D.C. will be performing at the upcoming Shaky Knees, Sea.Hear.Now and Ohana festivals.

“It was announced today that Frank Beard, ZZ Top’s drummer for the past 56 years, has died. He was in hospice care when he passed away at his ranch in Richmond, TX with family members at his side,” according to a statement Tuesday from the band’s publicist.

A message posted on the band’s official X account in March 2025 announced that Beard had “temporarily stepped away” from the band’s then-current tour to attend to an unspecified health issue, and that Beard was “looking forward to a speedy recovery.” He rejoined the band on tour in September of that year.

Born June 11, 1949, in Frankston, Texas, Hill joined the Houston-based band The Moving Sidewalks in 1969, which featured vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Billy Gibbons. The band soon changed its name to ZZ Top and, following the departure of some members and the addition of bassist Dusty Hill, the trio recorded their debut album, 1971’s aptly titled ZZ Top’s First Album.

“It didn’t take 30 minutes; it didn’t take 30 seconds. I knew that Frank Beard had the kind of chops that I was looking for,” Billy Gibbons recalled of their first meeting in the 2019 documentary ZZ Top: That Little Ol’ Band from Texas. “He played fiercely. He played with determination.”

The band’s follow-up, 1972’s Rio Grande Mud, featured the modest chart hit “Francine.” But it was ZZ Top’s breakout third album, 1973’s Tres Hombres, that put them on the map, largely on the strength of the album’s lead single, the blues rock boogie “La Grange.”

Featuring Beard’s signature snare-rim-tapping triplets intro beneath Billy Gibbons’ sly, growling vocals, then dropping into a hard-pounding shuffle groove two dozen bars in, “La Grange” helped propel Tres Hombres into the top 10 of the Billboard 200 all-genre albums chart on the way to becoming RIAA-certified Gold for sales of more than 500,000 units.

With a lineup unchanged for over half a decade, the “Little ‘Ol Band from Texas” released 15 studio albums during Beard’s tenure, the latest being 2012’s La Futura, with nine of them reaching RIAA Gold or Platinum status. Of those, however, the biggest-selling remains 1983’s Eliminator, which sold more than 10 million units in the U.S. alone and includes the hits “Sharp-Dressed Man” and “Gimme All Your Lovin'” – both propelled by Beard’s hammering, driving backbeat – and “Legs.” The latter, the band’s highest-charting single, featured neither Beard nor bassist Hill, though they were credited.

Beard – ironically, given his name, the only band member who didn’t sport Gibbons’ and Hill’s signature long facial hair – remained with ZZ Top for the entirety of the band’s six-decade existence and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with them in 2004. He struggled with substance abuse early in the band’s history before checking himself into rehab in the early 1980s, during which time the band went on hiatus, his bandmates telling Beard to take however long he needed.

“I just wanted to get sober,” Hill said in ZZ Top: That Little Ol’ Band from Texas. “I wanted to be like people I admired that could sit at home and watch TV and go to bed.”

Beard was married twice, the second time to Debbie Meredith in 1982. She survives him, as do their three children.

ZZ Top bassist and founding member Dusty Hill died in July 2021 at age 72. Billy Gibbons is now the sole remaining member of the original trio.

ZZ Top is currently on the latest leg of their The Big One! tour. Due to Beard’s passing, they’ve canceled their Tuesday show in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Wednesday’s scheduled show in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The “Lost Boys” artist announced in an Instagram Story Wednesday that she’s been diagnosed with appendicitis, forcing her to postpone her run of intimate U.K. shows.

“I got appendicitis for my birthday,” Bridgers wrote in the post. “Everything in the UK this week will have to move but I’ll make it up to you!!!!”

Bridgers performed in London on Monday, which was her birthday, and was scheduled to play shows on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

While appendicitis is not a great birthday present, Bridgers got a better one from Taylor Swift, who praised her new album, Lost Weekend, as an “absolute triumph.”

Bridgers will launch a sold-out U.S. arena tour in support of Lost Weekend in September.

“They’ve been big fans of our band for quite awhile, and they’re great dudes, they’re really great people,” Gibbard says of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. “They asked us to play with them, and we were like, ‘Yeah, hell yeah! Let’s do it.'”

In opening for a band that came after them, Gibbard feels that Death Cab is continuing “part of a tradition of music.”

“We’re getting to that point in our lives where by the sheer fact of having been around for a long time, we’re starting to see bands that grew up on our music the same way that we grew up on, like, The Cure and Fugazi and Built to Spill and that kind of stuff,” Gibbard says.

As for how he thinks the Twenty One Pilots audience will receive Death Cab’s set, Gibbard laughs, “I don’t know how it’ll go over.”

“But those guys [Joseph and Dun] are happy, so that’s all that matters to me,” Gibbard says.

Death Cab for Cutie recently wrapped a U.S. tour of their own in support of their new album, I Built You a Tower.

The clip, streaming on YouTube, features Mike Shinoda sitting in a studio alongside blink-182’s Mark Hoppus as they listen to a recording of the song “Unshatter,” which is featured on the deluxe version of LP’s 2024 comeback album, From Zero. At one point, Hoppus shows Shinoda his arm covered in goosebumps.

“I was moved by that,” Shinoda says. “Goosebumps, you can’t fake.”

Unshatter hits theaters on Sept. 30. The film follows Linkin Park’s journey in reforming the band with new vocalist Emily Armstrong following the 2017 death of frontman Chester Bennington, featuring footage spanning from their 2022 studio sessions to 2024’s From Zero album release concert in São Paulo.

An accompanying soundtrack will be released on Sept. 25.

The four-LP set is due out Oct. 2. It’ll be available in canary yellow and apple red vinyl at all retailers, brown smoke and orange smoke vinyl in independent record stores, and blue marble and ruby red marble exclusively through the RHCP webstore.

The original Stadium Arcadium marked the ninth Chili Peppers studio effort and spawned the hit singles “Dani California,” “Snow (Hey Oh)” and “Tell Me Baby.” It also marked their last album before guitarist John Frusciante’s departure from the group in 2009.

Frusciante later returned to RHCP in 2019, and they put out two new albums in 2022: Unlimited Love and Return of the Dream Canteen.

In related news, songs by artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Weezer will be included in Stage Tour, a new video game akin to the Guitar Hero games.

The soundtrack so far includes RCHP’s “Dani California” and Weezer’s “Island in the Sun,” as well as Ghost’s “Square Hammer,” Static-X’s “Terminator Oscillator” and Extreme’s “Get the Funk Out.”

Stage Tour is due out in the fall, and will launch alongside guitar and drum kit controllers. It’s being released by the studio RedOctane, which includes staff members who worked on the original Guitar Hero games.

“What makes this team so unique is that we’ve brought together passionate community developers, creators, players, and veteran rhythm game developers who understand why this genre matters,” says RedOctane studio head Simon Ebejer. “We believe that combination gives us the greatest opportunity to deliver the experience fans have been waiting for.”

“C.E.O.” begins with frontman Rivers Cuomo singing, “Cranking out another ’90s jam/ Wish I could do something new/ But nobody wants to hear that/ They just want the classics.”

The song continues, “You can’t blame ’em really/ There’s something special about your early s***.”

The accompanying “C.E.O.” video finds Weezer tasked with recreating their iconic video for “Undone – The Sweater Song” at the behest of executives played by Rob Riggle and Rob Huebel. After the band members realize it isn’t working and leave the set, the executives and the director, played by Obsession filmmaker Curry Barker, recruit actors Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, as well as skateboarding icon Tony Hawk, to replace them.

The Gold Album, the first full-length Weezer effort in five years, is set to be released Aug. 21. It also includes the previously released songs “Shine Again” and “We Might as Well Be Strangers.”

Weezer will launch their upcoming U.S. Gathering tour in September. The bill also includes The Shins and Silversun Pickups.

A newly announced international leg of the Gathering kicks off in Japan in February 2027 before heading to the U.K. and Europe in May. The run will feature support from Taking Back Sunday.

Lost Weekend, Bridgers’ third album and the much-anticipated follow-up to 2020’s Punisher, dropped Friday. It also includes the single “Lost Boys.”

Bridgers will launch a sold-out U.S. arena tour in support of Lost Weekend in September.

Phoebe Bridgers appears in the new trailer for the upcoming film Primetime.

The movie stars Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen, the host of the hit mid-2000s series To Catch a Predator.

It hasn’t been announced who Bridgers is playing, but in the trailer you hear her character say, “We’re going to him? We don’t do that. They come to us.”

Primetime premieres in theaters on Sept. 25. 

In addition to seeing Bridgers on the big screen, you can see her in-person on her upcoming U.S. arena tour, which launches Sept. 14 in Indianapolis. That is, if you already have a ticket, since the tour is sold out.

The six-track set includes recordings from Dave Grohl and company’s last-minute club shows at Irving Plaza in New York City and the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey, over the spring to celebrate the release of their new album, Your Favorite Toy.

Foo Fighters are currently playing much larger venues — stadiums, in fact — on their Take Cover North American tour, which kicked off Tuesday in Toronto. 

Foo Fighters have also announced a concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Mohegan Sun casino and entertainment complex, which is located in Uncasville, Connecticut. The show will take place Oct. 4 at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
