Titled around the visual power of music, the concert will feature a collection of works inspired by art, colorful imagery and the excitement of Mardi Gras.

“Three vivid musical canvases launch the Mobile Symphony’s season with spectacular colors, as we celebrate the connection between the visual and musical arts,” Music Director Scott Speck said.

The program includes Hector Berlioz’s depiction of a wild Mardi Gras celebration during the lifetime of Renaissance sculptor Benvenuto Cellini, along with a contemporary work by former Mobile Symphony Composer-in-Residence Kenji Bunch inspired by the Pop art paintings of Roy Lichtenstein.

The concert will also feature Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, orchestrated by Maurice Ravel. The piece brings to life the whimsical, fantastical and sometimes monstrous creations of artist Viktor Hartmann.

Together, the works showcase the orchestra’s ability to bring visual imagery to life through music.

“These works highlight the power of music to paint pictures with the limitless palette of the modern symphony orchestra,” Speck said.

Tickets start at $25, with student tickets available for $10.

Matt Mathews is a comedian, singer/songwriter, and unapologetic trailblazer whose raw honesty, razor-sharp wit, and unmistakable Southern charm have made him one of comedy’s fastest-rising stars. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Mathews first captured national attention during the pandemic with his viral “farm chore” videos, turning everyday chaos, unfiltered storytelling, and authentic humor into a social media phenomenon. Today, he has built a devoted audience of more than 15 million followers and generated over a billion views across platforms.

What started as a playful escape from his full-time career as a boudoir photographer quickly evolved into a breakout comedy career. After performing stand-up for the first time in 2022, Mathews rapidly went from small clubs to sold-out theaters and arenas across the country. His wildly successful Boujee On A Budget Tour sold more than 250,000 tickets and included multiple performances at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium as well as his first-ever arena show in his hometown of Birmingham.

Now, Mathews returns to the stage with his newest tour, Not What I Ordered — a hilarious and deeply personal look at life not going according to plan. Through stories about relationships, family, fame, farm life, mental health, and the chaos of everyday living, Mathews delivers the kind of brutally honest comedy that has made fans feel like they’ve known him forever. Equal parts outrageous, heartfelt, and wildly relatable, the tour showcases his unique ability to turn life’s messiest moments into unforgettable comedy.

Additionally, Matt recently turned his popular Farm Chores videos into a YouTube series called, Farm Chores with Matt Matthews & Friends that premiered in March 2026 with Funny Marco and has since had Heather McMahan, Dasha, Trailer Trash Tammy, and Anjelah Johnson on to name a few. He also stars in the digital series, Doin The Most with Matt Mathews and Kail Lowry with Season 2 premiering this summer.

Mathews’ work is rooted in his real-life experiences as a farmer, barrel racer, entrepreneur, proud Alabamian, and openly gay entertainer navigating the industry with authenticity and humor. His perspective has earned him recognition from Deadline, which named him among the “Future of Comedy,” as well as praise from The Advocate for the path he continues to carve in entertainment.

Whether performing stand-up, recording music, or filming from the farm, Matt Mathews continues to build a career entirely on his own terms — proving that sometimes life may be not what you ordered, but it might turn out even better. For tour dates, music updates, and more, visit mattmathews.com.

Jim Croce was an American folk singer with a short-lived professional recording and touring career, and decades of posthumous fame as one of the greatest songwriters and artists ever. With sales surpassing 50 million records, including three #1 songs and 10 Top 10 hits, Jim Croce’s short career and long-lived legacy are well-remembered through his era-defining standards like “Operator”, “Time in a Bottle” and “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown”.

A.J. Croce’s 30-year touring and recording career has produced ten studio albums that have been released via both major and independent labels, and have charted 20 Top 20 singles and all ten albums on the radio including on Top 40, Americana, and Blues. A virtuoso piano player, he has performed at a TED Talk and gave a master class at the University of Barcelona. Croce has performed on major talk shows and news programs including The Late Show, The Tonight Show, The Today Show, CNN, MTV, and VH1. He’s toured with such esteemed artists as Willie Nelson, Lenny Kravitz, Earth, Wind, and Fire, and B.B. King. While his last album, Just Like Medicine, paired him with producer and soul legend Dan Penn and an all-star cast of players and guests like Vince Gill and Steve Cropper, his new album was born of memories — of favorite artists and shows, but mostly, of late-night gatherings with groups of friends, many of them fellow musicians, with Croce at the piano taking requests. Croce revisits these musical evenings on By Request (out on Compass Records) with 12 personally curated covers that traverse decades and genres, propelled by his spirited, piano mastery and emotive vocals. With a rich catalog of original compositions A.J. first recorded and released a composition of his fathers with a never-before-recorded song “Name of the Game” on his Just Like Medicine release. In 2018 he covered the 1973 hit “I Got A Name” for a Goodyear commercial with Dale Earnhardt Jr.
