Catch Gene Murrell weekdays on 92ZEW from 2pm – 6pm. Gene will get home the right way with your latest traffic, news and weather. Plus Matt will take you “On The Beat” with the latest music news and then Gene will kick off your drive home in the 5 o’clock Traffic Jam.

Gene is also one of the co-hosts of 92ZEW’s Beer BBQ and Bingo every Tuesday night at Moe’s Original BBQ, downtown Mobile. You can also catch him at the Electric Piano Parlor on Dauphin Streets every Friday and Saturday night.

A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY

Gene is celebrating 20 years on 92ZEW! He came to Mobile in 2006 from Hilton Head Island, SC where not only worked in radio there but was also a professional musician. Gene grew up in Winter Haven, Fl and moved to Los Angeles when he was 21. Soon thereafter he began making his living as a musician and an actor. He first started playing summers on Hilton Head in 1988 and moved there full time in 1998 where he was the front man in the popular party band “The Lawn Jockeys”. Since coming to Mobile, Gene has been very active in the local music scene playing at many venues around the area including Dahlia’s Dueling Piano Bar and Moe’s BBQ for many years. Gene is also involved with the local theatre scene, performing in many productions over the years including “Fiddler On The Roof” (Teyve), “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof” (Big Daddy) as well as directing many award winning productions including “Assassins” at MTG, “Young Frankenstein” and the Alabama Community theatre premiere of “Escape To Margaritaville” at the Joe Jefferson Playhouse. Gene is also a history geek and avid drone pilot.
