GATEWAY: FROM GRAFFITTI TO GALLERY:   Tues-Sat 10am- Mobile Museum of Art. From the tunnels of New York’s subway system to the walls of international galleries, GATEWAY: From Graffiti to Gallery charts how five artists formalized unauthorized acts of self-expression into an artistic language that commands institutional recognition. From Basquiat’s cryptic script, Haring’s energetic subway drawings, and Scharf’s pop surrealism, to KAWS’ advertising interventions, and Banksy’s political stencils, the exhibition creates a dialogue between the raw immediacy, public accessibility, and cultural commentary that define these artists’ origins in graffiti.

FREE FIRST SUNDAY AT HISTORY MUSEUM OF MOBILE- Sun 1pm-5pm, History Museum of Mobile, Downtown Mobile.Spend the afternoon discovering Mobile’s rich history with FREE ADMISSION to the History Museum of Mobile, Colonial Fort Condé, and Phoenix Fire Museum. At the Phoenix Fire Museum, discover Mobile’s firefighting history and enjoy special architectural tours offered throughout the afternoon. At Colonial Fort Condé, step into the past with a special Fashion Show at 2 p.m. INFO HERE   

DAUPHIN ISLAND SUMMER SUNSET CONCERTS: MODERN ELDORADOS- Sun 5:30pm, Historic Fort Gaines, Dauphin Island.Celebrating Dauphin Island’s designation as the “Sunset Capital of Alabama,” the Summer Sunset Concerts will feature the Modern Eldorados this Sunday at Historic Fort Gaines. LABOR DAY:

MOBILE LABOR DAY PARADE- Monday 10am, Downtown Mobile. Labor Day is a time to recognize the enduring contributions of working people in our communities. Again this year, the Southwest Alabama Labor Council will be highlighting locally-made products, by throwing paper towels and toilet paper from Kimberly-Clark. The parade starts and ends on South Lawrence Street, with a route that includes Government St, Royal, Conception, and Canal streets. INFO HERE
