Check out some of the pictures of of this years S.O.S. Fest, paying tribute to our hometown musical artist Jimmy Buffett, and this year it was bigger bigger and better than ever!
The festival started with a second line tribute beginning at the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel at 11 :15 AM, and wound down the streets of Mobile to Cathedral Park. The weather was perfect, everyone’s spirits were high, and the free, day-long, family friendly annual celebration of Jimmy Buffett and Gulf Coast music will took place from noon until 8 O’clock Saturday night.
The ZEW Krewes Gene Murrell, Matt Mc Coy and Kelly Finley hosted the event, and Gene even jumped onstage with The Street Folks, the first band that performed after the Blow House Brass Band led everyone to the stage. The rest of the day was pure Jimmy Buffet partying, celebrating, and dancing in Cathedral Square and the streets surrounding it all in his honor.
There were actually two stages of entertainers, the main stage in Cathedral square with the musical line up of The Blow House Brass Band, Street Folks, Vibe Irie, Will Kimbrough from Jimmy’s Coastal Reefers’ Band, and the official Buffet tribute band AIA.
The second stage further down Dauphin Street, had some great local talent paying tribute as well, including Disco Lemonade, Laurie Anne Nix, and Ella Salter and the Sunday Sinners!
Special thanks to Joe Brennan for asking us to be a part of it in honor of Jimmy and our 40th anniversary too, and you for coming out to pay tribute to one of our biggest musical hometown heroes, Jimmy Buffet.
